Men and Women… God’s cruel joke.

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day.  She was telling me about an argument she’d had with her husband.  To us his logic was unfathomable, yet he seemed to think he made all the sense in the world.  It boiled down to one immutable truth.  Boys are weird.  Their logic does not resemble our earth logic.  Although he was probably out with his buddy having the very same conversation about us.   So why are we drawn together, men and women?  We think so differently it’s amazing the human race has survived.  Now… women I get.  I understand how they think.  I suppose being one helps a lot with that.  I wonder if lesbian couples have it easier in that respect.  Of course any two people are going to have their differences.  But if they have a disagreement can they at least follow each other’s train of thought?  If that is the case then too bad I don’t like women.    Then again, that much estrogen in one home could bring problems of its own.

Who knows, maybe the whole theory of relationships is flawed.  How can any two people be all things to one another?  Can two people of different genders really communicate sufficiently to maintain a successful relationship?  Perhaps it is all a cruel joke on us by God, nature, evolution, or what have you.  We don’t understand each other, yet we want each other none the less.

So what do we do?  Shunning relationships altogether doesn’t seem to be the best way to go.  That way makes for a safe but lonely existence.  Being with others certainly has its benefits.  Relationships can enrich your life, but they can also cause a lot of pain.  So is it God’s cruel joke or are they worth the hassle?  I don’t know but

It seemed like a good idea at the time.
